This recipe for Chocolate Orange Snaps by Weelicious is one of my family’s favorites. This year we didn’t want to wait until the holidays to enjoy them, so we made them early… Halloween style!

Freshly grated orange zest adds a wonderful hint of flavor to these not-overly-sweet chocolate cookies.

The cookie dough does not have to be refrigerator prior to rolling which is a great time saver!

So often recipes suggest rolling dough out between two sheets of parchment paper, but waxed paper actually works much better.

Witch hats provided decorating inspiration.

We also made some spooky ghosts with miniature marshmallow/chocolate chip eyes!
The girls proudly delivered some of the cookies to our neighbors and we polished off the rest of them.

That batter alone looks scrumptious! I really want to try these. Now we just have to find a way to get through all this cake we have here (and get back to exercising)!
Hi Joy! These are great for the holidays… you can always give some away if you don’t want to eat the whole batch.

Those look AMAZING!!! I really wish I was as talented (and patient) as you. Just making stuff from boxes already wears me out. These ones are so cute!
How old are your girls? I can’t wait until my kid(s) can start helping out in the kitchen… maybe that will give me an incentive to make stuff
Thanks, Kimmie! My girls are four-years-old. It’s fun to get them involved in the kitchen… they get really excited about eating things they have made themselves!
These turned out absolutely adorable! And delicious…I wish I was one of your neighbors
Thanks, Kristin! I would love to have you as a neighbor, although I don’t think the weather here is anywhere near as nice as in San Diego!

These cookies are so cute! I love that the Halloweeny orange color comes from orange zest and not just orange sprinkles.
It’s hard to tell that there’s orange zest in the cookie dough when you look at them, but easy to tell once you taste them! Thanks for stopping by, Laura!
